LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in Northern California's massive wildfire, dubbed Camp Fire, climbed to 23 after local officials confirmed 14 more bodies have been recovered from the fire area on Saturday.

According to the Butte County Sheriff's department, they initially have received 508 calls, requesting for the department to check on people who were missing.

Most of those calls have been resolved but 110 calls remain outstanding. Butte County Sheriff's department, however, stressed that doesn't mean 110 people are missing.

Rich Carhart, the Cal Fire's public information officer, confirmed to Xinhua via phone that the fire had scorched over 105,000 acres (about 425 square km) with only 20 percent contained.

Carhart said the estimated number of structures destroyed by the blaze is still 6,713, including 6,453 homes and 260 business buildings.

Authorities will be sending people in to get exact account, "but that is a process (which) takes a long time," he added.

The Camp Fire has burned its way into state history as the most destructive blaze on record in less than three days.
