Edwin Mwenda briefs on his entrepreneurial projects at a start-up business incubator in Beijing, capital of China, Aug. 17, 2018. Supported by a Chinese start-up business incubator, Beijing-based Kenyan entrepreneur Edwin Mwenda currently runs an agricultural solutions project named AHAVAH (the word for "love" in Hebrew) along with his partner Nelly Njoroge. In 2014, Mwenda came to China for further education. He got his master's degree in environmental science and engineering at Tsinghua University in 2016, and is now a PhD candidate in political economy at the University of International Business and Economics. From his years in China, Mwenda gained a new perspective on personal career as well as on the prospect of Africa. What he has in mind is to provide Kenya and other parts of Africa with advanced, region-specific agricultural solutions which integrate Chinese agricultural technologies. Mwenda hopes that he could establish a standardized pilot farm in Kenya and with time promote such farm mode to the greater Africa, so that the reliance on nature in agricultural production could be reduced. As far as he is concerned, what should be brought back to Africa is not just technology, but also a positive change in the way how locals live their lives. (Xinhua/Luo Xiaoguang)
