LONDON, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Two children and a woman died in a shooting incident Wednesday morning in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, police have confirmed.
All victims were from the same household, Superintendent Robert McGowan, district commander for the area, said at a news conference.
"We can advise there is no ongoing risk to the public," said a spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. A murder investigation has been launched, with inquiries being at an early stage, police said.
Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) Assembly Member Deborah Erskine, who represents the area in the Northern Ireland Assembly, called for restraint and urged the public to avoid speculation while police investigations continue. "This is truly shocking and has stunned the entire community," she said.
Sinn Fein MP Pat Cullen also expressed her sympathies and added, "I would urge people not to speculate on the details of this tragic and shocking incident." ■
