BEIJING, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese authorities on Friday allocated 23,000 items of central disaster relief supplies, including folding beds and towel blankets, to support the flood-hit provinces of Hebei and Shaanxi in the emergency relocation and aid efforts.
The relief supplies were dispatched to the two provinces by the office of the national commission for disaster prevention, reduction and relief, the Ministry of Emergency Management, and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration.
Since Thursday, heavy rainfall has affected various regions, including Baoding and Chengde in Hebei Province, as well as Yulin and Yan'an in Shaanxi Province, resulting in severe flooding.
On Friday morning, China's national observatory renewed a yellow alert for rainstorms, warning of downpours in some regions across the country, including Hebei and Shaanxi.
From 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, heavy rains and rainstorms are forecast to hit parts of Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang and Taiwan island, the National Meteorological Center said.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue. ■
