YAOUNDE, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of Cameroon's men's football team, Marc Brys, on Wednesday denied reports of his resignation.

His statement came shortly after the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) announced that Brys had sent a resignation letter on Monday.

"I have never written or sent any resignation letter. I am deeply surprised and even challenged by the fact that no official, including the Cameroon Football Federation, bothered to contact me personally before disseminating this alleged information widely," the Belgian coach said in a statement.

"Upon reviewing the information in my possession, it appears that my email account has most likely been compromised," Brys added.

In a separate statement, the country's Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, said Marc Brys's resignation was "unfounded and is pure manipulation."

"Marc Brys has not resigned from his duties. He remains resolutely in office," Kombi said.

FECAFOOT has yet to respond following Brys's denial.

Brys has faced challenges since his appointment last year. He was named head coach by the country's Minister of Sports and Physical Education, a move initially rejected by FECAFOOT, which complained it was not involved in the selection process "in disregard of regulations." Brys was dismissed and later reinstated, and he has since been embroiled in a series of disputes with FECAFOOT. ■
